AMD RX 5700 XT will use GDDR6 from Micron and Samsung

A new filtration has been released for the RX 5700 XT, which will be released next to the RX 5700 in a few days. In this filtration, the two possible GDDR6 storage vendors who would use the RX 5700 XT are described in detail, which is the most powerful version of the series.

Once again Komachi has highlighted the entry on a TechPowerUp filtered RX 5700 XT vBIOS (now retired) that displays two different codes for GDDR6 memory, either Samsung or Micron:There’s a history of memory provided by Micron that isn’t necessarily the strongest choice when it comes to getting the maximum performance from a graphics card. This probably won’t be a problem for most of us, but for those who are used to overclocking and getting the most out of a GPU. In this case, Samsung’s memory is usually better to perform key OC for the VRAM.

  • 8192 MB, GDDR6, Micron MT61K256M32

We don’t yet know how the two manufacturers will be used to deliver the cards; Micron could be the main supplier of the AMD reference cards, while Samsung could be the one seen in third-party models. Or there is no significant difference in what is used and where it is used.

If the GDDR6 memory type is not specified, this could be a problem because it depends on each manufacturer’s model and we don’t know how long until someone has the graphics cards and tests them to see what memory type they’re using.

There is no way we can discuss the difference in overclocking, maybe the differences are tiny. But there are doubts.

AMD will launch the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT on July 7. We will keep you informed.
