AMD Radeon RX 590, the 12 nm is confirmed with the first results

A photo seems to confirm one of the expected advances with the Radeon RX 590. Its graphics processor should benefit from an engraving of 12 nm, which is a plus of 14 nm. AMD could thus increase the frequencies and at the same time offer improved energy efficiency.

While the Radeon RX 590 benefits from a 12 nm FinFET etching process, AMD is able to increase frequencies while offering better energy efficiency. However, miracles are not to be expected as the GPU continues to use the Polaris architecture. It is the heart of the current Radeon RX 580 and 570.

As a result, it is difficult to understand the prices. Will this Radeon RX 590 be more expensive than the existing one or will it take over the positioning of the RX 580?

A recent update of the Final Fantasy XV game benchmark could be the beginning of an answer. It gives you an idea of the performance of this Radeon RX 590. At 2560×1440 pixels it is positioned at a feed rate of 10% above the Radeon RX 580.

At 3840×2160 pixels, the distance increases to a maximum of 15%. This difference will place a heavy burden on the competition, especially the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.

The use of the 12 nm FinFET offers a performance gain, as well as new possibilities in overclocking. At this point, the fans already hope that this Radeon RX 590 has a good potential in terms of quality, which will increase its difference to the Radeon RX 580.
