AMD brought Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) support a week ago to the RX 7000 series graphics cards. Now, AMD is extending this support to include the Radeon RX 6000 with the release of the Driver Adrenalin Edition Preview 23.30.
This driver does not have many new features is based on the version released last week, and only incorporates support for Fluid Motion Frames for Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards. Although it is technically possible to install this driver with other hardware, as was done with the previous version, it is important to note that the AFMF feature will probably not work on GPUs that are not included in the list of supported devices.
Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF)
AFMF works by adding frame generation technology to games that do not fully support FSR3 technology. Because AFMF runs independently and at the driver level (by software), game makers are not required to offer support for this technology. This also implies that AFMF does not have the improvements of FSR3, which is what is worthwhile in all of this.
While support for the RX 6000 and RX 7000 graphics cards is currently available, AFMF support for other architectures has not yet been verified.
The 23.30 driver is now available for download from AMD’s website. For now, this technology is only compatible with 20 games.
