AMD is not in any hurry to launch the Ryzen 7 2800X

Many enthusiastic users will have noticed that the Ryzen 7 2800X variant was not part of the starting grid when the second generation Ryzen processors (2000 series) were launched. Jim Anderson, Senior Vice President of AMD, has an answer to this decision.

AMD is in no hurry to launch the Ryzen 7 2800X, thinks the 2700X is enough

Anderson has hinted that AMD might launch the Ryzen 7 2800X processor at a later date. The main reason for the change is that the current Ryzen 7 2700X and 2700X models already cover the performance and price ranges. Therefore, AMD does not see the need to launch a more powerful model at this time.

The fact is that the Ryzen 7 2700X processor measures up to an i7-8700K in multi-threaded tasks while reducing the gap in single-threaded workloads. While Intel still has the edge in gaming performance, the difference in performance is small and becomes even smaller as you move up the resolution scale.

What is being speculated at the moment is that AMD expects a response from Intel for the 2700X, and based on that move, launches the expected Ryzen 7 2800X as a lethal’ counterattack.

So far, we don’t know using the 2800X, but it seems that AMD is in no hurry, and rightly so.
