AMD chose the Ryzen 7 2800X, that is a high-end processor that AMD will use to respond to the launch of the Intel Core i9 9900K.
The situation of Intel and AMD has changed dramatically since the emergence of Zen architecture. There were two examples: the first was very comfortable and the second was stuck in hell and bombarded by bad forecasts from analysts and investors.
It is a knock-knock at the door for AMD and the return of ZEN with Zen+. At the moment AMD is in a very comfortable position, and Intel had to work hard to prevent the pressure of Sunnyvale company from really hurting them.
In fact, Intel has increased the core number with Coffee Lake and will also do so with its Coffee Lake Refresh. This wouldn’t have happened without the arrival of Zen, but at AMD they are ready to answer Intel with the Ryzen 7 2800X.
There are rumors about the possibility that the Ryzen 7 2800X has ten cores and twenty threads. Up to now, nothing has been confirmed, but this increase in cores and threads would allow AMD to stay ahead of Intel in multi-thread performance.
