The AMD Navi 24 chip was mentioned in the latest Linux drivers with the codename Beige Goby, which stands for the RX 6000 GPUs in the lower price segment.
AMD Navi 24 ‘Beige Goby’, low-end RDNA 2 will be on the market soon
AMD started adding support for Navi 24 GPUs with the name of a fish (Beige Goby) that will bring the lower end of RX 6000 GPUs to life for both PCs and low-cost notebooks.
With support in the Linux drivers, it’s possible that the first products with the Navi 24 chips will appear in the next few months, both for desktop graphics cards and in entry-level notebooks.
For AMD’s new graphics architecture, the company has chosen fish names: Sienna Cichlid (Navi 21), Navy Flounder (Navi 22), Dimgrey Cavefish (Navi 23), and now the Beige Goby (Navi 24).
With the RDNA-2 architecture, AMD will cover the entire performance range from high-end to low-end with a much more comprehensive offering than before. Thus, Vega only covered the high-end, and with Navi 10, this offering was somewhat half-hearted. With Navi 20, AMD will have Navi 21, Navi 22, Navi 23, and Navi 24 chips ready to meet all gamers’ performance and budget needs.
Currently, AMD is working on the final details for the release of the unannounced RX 6600 (XT), which uses a Navi 23 chip. It is possible that Navi 24 will bring the RX 6500 (XT) series to life.
