An exciting LGA4094 motherboard has been released for AMD’s EPYC processors in ASRock’s arsenal. For the casual observer, ASRock Rack is the elite server division of the popular motherboard brand.
ASRock launches a motherboard with 7 PCIe 4.0 slots for EPYC
ASRock Rack designed the ROMED8-2T to accommodate the processors EPYC 7001 (Naples) and EPYC 7002 (Rome). The motherboard has the standard LGA4094 socket (socket SP3) and corresponds to the ATX form factor. The ROMED8-2T is finally a server product, therefore ASRock has manufactured it with a green PCB and without a failed heat sink or RGB lighting.
This board is equipped with the latest connectors: AMD’s EPYC 7002 series chips offer impressive 128 PCIe 4.0 high-speed tracks, and ASRock Rack is ready to use them. Therefore the ROMED8-2T is equipped with no less than seven PCIe 4.0 x16 tracks to take advantage of the latest and fastest PCIe 4.0 SSD and business graphics cards in today’s market. Only the second PCIe 4.0 x16 slot shares bandwidth with the Mini-SAS, M.2 and OCuLink connectors.
The motherboard, as we can see, has eight DDR4 memory slots that support different formats. It supports 32GB RDIMMs (registered DIMMs), 256GB LRDIMMs (low-load DIMMs) and 32GB NVDIMMs (non-volatile DIMMs). The officially supported memory speed for all three formats is 3200 MHz.
It has two Mini-SAS connectors to support a total of up to eight SATA III drives and one SATA DOM connector. The motherboard provides two OCuLink connectors for U.2 SSDs and has two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 ports. Although both M.2 ports support both PCIe and SATA-based SSDs.
