Fudzilla reports that AMD already has 7nm Navi-based graphics cards in their labs, and they say they look “very good”.
It is clear that the Navi-based graphics card will hit the market in the second half of 2019, and it is rumored that the best forecast is the third quarter of 2019, but the good news is that the GPU is working in AMD’s labs. Of course, this is probably one of the first versions, as AMD still has a long way to go before it has a finished product.
Sources indicate that the 7nm GPU looks better than expected. They are not very detailed so that we don’t know if this means that the performance is good or that the 7nm GPU offers good performance/consumption without any problems. These are the first details about the 7nm Navi GPU, as well as earlier rumors that indicate that we might be dealing with a competitor of the GTX 1080 at a price of $250 and with lower power consumption.
Sources continue to insist that the Navi GPU is targeted at the mid-range graphics card market and does not compete with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX. This could also mean that we won’t see a high-end Navi GPU until 2020.
After the introduction of 7nm Navi, it is expected to be replaced by the new generation of 7nm+ architecture just named Arcturus in the recent past.
AMD is developing, but they’re having too much trouble competing with Nvidia at the top end, and it looks like they’re coming too late to get a decent product against RTX ‘Turing’.
