Zotac listed the RTX 3060 Ti graphics card with GA103 GPU on the official website

The original RTX 3060 Ti was based on the GA104 GPU, and the new model comes with the GA 103 GPU, the same as the laptop RTX 3080 Ti, with a larger and more neutered core size. The full GA103 GPU has 7680 CUDA cores, while the RTX 3060 Ti has 4864 CUDA cores, meaning the RTX 3060 Ti will only use 60% of the GA103’s CUDA cores.

Considering that these GPUs belong to different series, it is quite remarkable that the RTX 3060 Ti gets this refresh in the middle of the product’s life. The reason for this could be Samsung’s production capabilities and ability to ensure the supply of certain GPUs.

New NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti with GA103 should secure supply

The fact that the RTX 3060 Ti has all but disappeared is a fact, and that’s because it’s a GPU that’s in high demand. It seems that NVIDIA has modified the chip to make up for this lack, so the GA103-200 comes into play. Keep in mind that the GA103 is based on the RTX 3060, while the original (GA104) is based on the RTX 3070.

As we can see from the specs of the 3 new ZOTAC GPUs, the CUDA cores are the same and the other features remain the same whether you have GA103 or GA104. Nothing changes in the memory bus, frequencies, or more, although it would be nice to know which RT cores they come with.

Three GPUs are involved here:

RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 PGF GOC-X. RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 Apocalypse GOC-X RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 X-GAMING GOC-X RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 X-GAMING GOC-X.

To differentiate between the GA103 and GA104 GPUs, Zotac decided to add an “X” to the end of the name to make it clear that it was a different GPU. It was just a curiosity we wanted to share with you, as we already talked about it last month when this move was rumored.

NVIDIA is trying hard to keep its RTX 3000 on the market, and it seems that this is not an easy task. Although AMD and NVIDIA have improved their offerings, the situation is still very difficult with a shortage of graphics cards.
