YouTube announced new options for content creators to earn additional revenue from their channels.
For example, creators will have the possibility to sell products with their videos, such as mugs, t-shirts, or any product of their brand. This option will be made possible by YouTube’s partnership with Teespring, an e-commerce platform.
This dynamic has already been tested with a select group of users, but YouTube plans to extend it to all users with a US-based channel and a minimum of 10,000 subscribers.
On the other hand, YouTube will also offer the possibility of selling memberships in its channels. For example, the Simon and Martina channel offer a number of benefits such as personalized emojis for live chat, badges and exclusive content in exchange for a $4.99 monthly subscription.
This option is only available for channels with more than 100,000 subscribers.
And finally, Premieres, to generate money with pre-recorded videos following the same dynamic as with live broadcasts. YouTube will provide them with a landing page and the ability to use the chat to interact with the content creator, or with the rest of the users.
We can see an example on Leroy Sanchez’s channel, which promotes his Premiere for today. According to the YouTube team, this option will soon be extended to all channels.
