Windows 11 is coming soon, possibly on June 24, and there is even an ISO that has been leaked on the net. The latest information circulating claims that users who own a Windows 7 license will be able to get a free copy of Windows 11.
Windows 11: Windows 7 users can upgrade for free
Windows 7 users may finally be in line for an upgrade soon, according to the latest information we’re hearing from Windows Latest.
The information comes from a configuration package in a leaked build of an operating system that has yet to be officially announced. While plans are subject to change from unveiling to launch, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 users will most likely be able to get free access to Windows 11 from launch.
“The information is based on configuration keys found in Pkeyconfig (product key configuration package) in the leaked build of Windows 11.”
However, of course, while it was a given that Windows 10 users would be able to access a free copy of Windows 11, it’s surprising to see that Windows 7 users will be able to make the leap as well.
Currently, Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 10 in 2025. What we don’t know is if the jump to the new operating system will be free until support ends, or if it will be a limited-time promotion.
We will have to wait until June 24 for more information.
