The water resistance of the iPhone X allows it to survive 2 weeks underwater in a river

When I see news like this I can’t help but look back on those days when the iPhone wasn’t waterproof, it couldn’t even withstand a rainy day. Apple made a good step by adding official certification to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, although the previous models (iPhone 6 and 6 Plus) were already waterproof without being Apple certified.

For three generations, iPhone models have been water-resistant and certified and this is a relief for users, even though we do not recommend getting them wet, as we would lose the warranty in all cases, including the iPhone X. Today we have a video of a young Youtuber who found an iPhone X submerged in a river for more than 2 weeks and it worked perfectly despite the blows and the time it was under the water.

IP67 certification is not the best but it worked perfectly

Specifically this certification allows the immersion to 1 meter for a maximum of 30 minutes, but in this case, it was two weeks and the device held perfectly as you can see in the video. In addition, the Youtuber (river treasure hunter) managed to get in touch with the owner of the device and everything went well.

It is curious the endurance that these iPhone have despite the certification they have, although as I said at the beginning the warranty on this iPhone X was lost because the “treasure hunter” also opened it to dry and this cancels a point more the warranty. Also, this can cause the waterproofing of the device to be disabled now, so the owner will have to be careful not to get it wet now that the iPhone has been opened to dry it. In any case, she’s a lucky user.
