National Geographic released the first 3D VR video that was shot in space on their YouTube channel. The material was recorded by astronauts at the International Space Station. The film was created with the One Strange Rock documentary series in mind.

Astronauts on the ISS have already been given video cameras for 360-degree viewing for some time. Last year, the first space walk in VR was recorded using these cameras. Now a new video has been published on National Geographic, which is a combination of different materials. The film was entitled the first 3D VR film to be shot in space.
The video that you will see below shows the material that astronauts have recorded both inside and outside the International Space Station. The film was created with One Strange Rock in mind to show the Earth as seen through the eyes of astronauts. You can see the material below. The best choice for VR goggles is to be found in the shops. It is not necessary, however, because you can rotate the view also while watching the movie on an ordinary computer or smartphone.
The film was shot with the use of Vuze VR cameras, which according to Humaneyes Technologies are an ideal choice for astronauts. National Geographic intends to release more material recorded on ISS in the final episode of One Strange Rock. This is due to be available on 28th May.
