With Track Lab, a Dutch developer, Little Chicken, has announced a virtual DJ studio for PlayStation VR. How does it work and when can we compose our first tracks?
As the increasing number of releases shows lately, music and virtual reality seem to grow better together. No wonder, as virtual reality with its additional immersion provides an even more intense and conscious gaming experience under the VR headset. Thanks to Track Lab we can now even dive into a virtual DJ studio.
Track Lab: Beats, notes, and samples in VR
Amsterdam-based developer Little Chicken uses a deliberately simple concept in Track Lab. This should ensure that even players with little basic musical knowledge can quickly have a sense of achievement. We simply move beats, notes, and samples in the virtual world with the motion controller and have everything in view with a head movement.
We also have an extensive repertoire of musical tools at our disposal, with which we mix the perfect track from all genres. Musically everything from techno to hip-hop to rock is represented here. Finally, we can season our masterpieces with effects and share them with players from all over the world via the PlayStation Network.
If you need some help at the beginning, the Evolver mode is for you. Here we solve puzzles about the different music genres and learn what patterns and music constructs are. We also get new beats as a reward.
When will Track Lab for PlayStation VR be released?
Track Lab is scheduled to be released on August 22 for 19.99 Euro for PlayStation VR. Pre-orders are already possible on PlayStation Store. Nothing is known about ports for other VR glasses, such as HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.
If you want to experience a very entertaining interplay of music and virtual reality, Beat Saber and BOXVR must have played. Alternatively, Riff VR makes us a rock star.
