Toshiba launches the TR200, an SSD up to 960 GB with NAND 3D TLC memory

Toshiba has released a new economic series – under the Giga price standard of late 2017. That will be available in 240 GB, 480 GB and 960 GB, models. The new TR200 uses 64-layer TLC type NAND 3D memory. In addition, it has a option of 60 TB, 120 TB, and 240 TB. It has a maximum sequential read / write speed of 555/540 MB / s, and random read/write of 82 000/88 000 IOPS. Toshiba provides a three-year warranty with these SSDs.

Toshiba has employed a Phison controller, a dual-channel S11 made at 40 nm and LPDC error correction. And it does not use DRAMs for the cache. That usually makes TLC-type SSDs even cheaper. That can lead to a reduction in speed, but in this case, when using a better controller. Also, the final price of the product may be somewhat standard compared to the NAND 3D type TLC of other companies.
