On the UserBenchmark platform, AMD’s new generation APU for 2019, with Picasso code, appeared for the first time on a public list. The finding was made by Videocardz site staff, who found the AMD Picasso graph as part of the 15D8 device ID in the database.
AMD Picasso to arrive in 2019 to replace Raven Ridge
Almost 10 months ago, a rumor had surfaced about the mysterious code names of AMD’s future products. According to the filtered slide, AMD planned to introduce Mattise as a successor to Pinnacle Ridge. That would be the first Zen 2-based processor. The slide also listed Pinnacle Ridge as a replacement for Summit Ridge, and that happened just a few months ago.
In the same slide, Picasso is mentioned as Raven Ridge’s successor. Now we see that Radeon Picasso is becoming a reality with his discovery in the UserBenchmark database under the 15D8 ID number. Unfortunately, there are no results on their performance available at this time, but that identification is a sufficient reason to consider this leakage credible. Current Raven Ridge APUs use the 15DD ID.
According to the information we have, the Picasso series should be based on the Raven Ridge architecture, but with an improvement in the relationship between consumption and performance. They must still be compatible with the AM4 socket for desktop PCs and the FP5 socket for laptops.
According to the roadmap, the new APUs based on this chip should be arriving within the next year, replacing the current Raven Ridge line with the relevant improvements.
