Earlier this year, AMD shared a preview of the third generation of Ryzen processors in which it achieves similar performance to the i9-9900K with 30% less power consumption.
The unveiling of a new AMD chip, which demonstrated the potential of a high-end 16-core model for the AM4 socket and raises the core count for a desktop processor to a new level, was even better.
Now it is rumored that AMD commented on some details of Ryzen based on Zen 2 at a recent event in Toronto, where DannyzPlays’ YouTuber technology was located.
Citing an undisclosed source, DannyzPlays commented on possible third generation performance levels of AMD’s Ryzen processors and explained that the demo at CES 2019 was limited to 30-40% of power consumption, giving AMD enough performance to improve these results over Intel’s i9-9900K.
If this statement is true, AMD did not fully exploit the power of Zen 2, so the Ryzen 3000 Series could deliver much more power than was shown at CES.
With 30-40% more power, we shouldn’t expect 30-40% more power, the clock/power variables rarely scale so well, but there is certainly more power to offer that hasn’t been used yet. Again, provided this statement is true.
It has also been reported that AMD said that motherboards with B450, X370 and X470 chipsets will support AMD’s third generation Ryzen processors and that low-end B350 chipsets will be left behind. Although AMD has stated that AM4 will support the new Ryzen processors until 2020, the company has never specified which chipsets it will be applied to. This step would lead to a negative consumer reaction as AM4 motherboard owners were promised compatibility with the newer Ryzen processors. We will have to wait and see whether all this is true or whether it is just rumours. We will keep you informed.
