Technics SC-C50 Full Specifications
Technics has thrown a large pebble into the pond in the small world of connected speakers. The Japanese subsidiary of Panasonic presented its first connected speaker which integrates Chromecast, AirPlay, and Spotify.
The Ottava S SC-C50 is a powerful monster with 3 x 1.6 cm tweeters, 3 x 6.5 cm woofers and a 12 cm subwoofer. And we could hear it and appreciate its precise highs and very deep basses. Just like many of the other connected speakers on the market, it is possible to pair Technics’ with a second model to provide stereo sound. However, it will cost almost 1,500 euros; the case alone will cost 749 euros.
Pitiful though, the SC-C50 does not carry microphones. In order to control it by voice, you must use a Google Home Speaker, Mini or Android smartphone. It is expected to be available from October and will be more popular than previous Technics devices.
Since its revival, the brand has been targeting the high-end hi-fi market and has streamlined its distribution to include some very elite boutiques. And now the Japanese are once again addressing a broad audience, even though prices are still close to those of the high-end segment.
