Even though it won’t be on the market until next year, TCL X8S 8K specifically the X8S series from the Chinese manufacturer TCL has enough to impress with the quality of the panel, the sound of the bar and perhaps also the price.
Without having the status of Sony or Samsung, TCL has created a good position in the television market. This year, the Chinese giant presented a new series called X8S at the IFA. Its main feature is that there are only devices with an 8K plate. The chosen technology is the same as the Samsung Q900R, so we have the Quantum Dot Display, QLED in front of us.
At first glance, the result flatters the retina. The colors are beautiful and rich in contrast, the blacks deep and the high luminosity (more than 2000 nits announced). Everything you need to enjoy your favorite movies (upscaled to 4K or later to 8K). The ears should also be happy. TCL has partnered with Onkyo to embed a soundbar that is theoretically capable of producing Dolby Amo’s audio rendering.
At the trade fair in Berlin, TCL presented only one screen size: 75 inches! It doesn’t take less to really enjoy the 8K. But don’t expect these televisions to arrive at retailers in France next year. A small effort of patience that pays off. In fact, they benefit from HDMI 2.1 connectivity that is compatible with 8K streams at 60 Hz.
One secret remains as the price. TCL televisions could be sold for six to seven thousand euros. A nice sum, but rather small compared to the size of the board and the quality promise.
