The Snapdragon 8180 processor from Qualcomm that is an 8-core processor for laptops has recently leaked.

It was tested with an MTP configuration, i.e. a mobile test platform with 15 watts of power output, affirming that this processor is not developed specifically for just a smartphone, which in the past would have been the main focus of the company.

According to Winterfuture.de, the Snapdragon 8180 is up to 53% faster than the Snapdragon 835 version and over 30% faster for operations with more than one kernel for most kernel operations, which is a dramatic improvement over most Windows 10 ARM devices.

However, in comparison with Snapdragon 850 that will be available on Windows 10 for ARM devices, the results were not as impressive as in the previous case, which showed an improvement of only 8.7% in single-core activity and up to 23% faster in multi-core operation.

But they did this using emulator rather than native code, so it can be concluded that the device should run even faster with newly compiled ARM64 applications.

Eventually, the most important point is that it has achieved 1392 for a single core and up to 4286 for more than one core, which makes it the most powerful processor in the company so far.

Only Asus Primus is currently supported but Winfuture says the development of the Snapdragon 8180 could even be compared to the Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y in Surface Go which means that the Qualcomm computing giant will eventually find its last boots and fight side by side for the leadership of the tablet and laptop market.
