Simply NUC alone has introduced the Ruby and Topaz series of micro-PCs. The former comes with AMD’s Ryzen 4000 (Renoir) processor, while Intel’s eleventh-generation Tiger Lake chips power the latter.
Regardless of the processor choice, the micro-PC is housed in a small 115 x 115 x 49 mm (4.5 x 4.5 x 1.9 inches) chassis, taking up very little desk space. In addition, both the Ruby and Topaz have DIN and VESA mounting options, so the micro can be kept behind a monitor or mounted on a DIN rail.
In terms of similarity, the two micro PCs have two DDR4 SO-DIMM memory slots that are compatible with memory modules up to DDR4-3200. They also have two M.2 slots that can accommodate up to 2280 drives. One port supports both PCIe and SATA SSDs, while the second port is limited to SATA SSDs. Standard display outputs include an HDMI 2.0a port and a DisplayPort 1.2a output. For Internet connectivity, Ruby and Topaz offer a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port and a Gigabit Ethernet port, in addition to Wi-Fi 6 AX200 and Bluetooth 5 capabilities.
Both models have the same number of USB ports, but slightly different designs. On the Ruby, there are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports and two USB 2.0 ports. In comparison, the Topaz offers four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports.
The Ruby can be equipped with a quad-core Ryzen 3 4300U, a six-core Ryzen 5 4500U, or an eight-core Ryzen 7 4800U. The Topaz, on the other hand, is available with a dual-core Core i3-1115G4 or quad-core i5-1135G7 and Core i7-1165G7.
Both come with 4 GB of RAM and a single 128 GB SSD in the base configuration. However, Simply NUC gives customers the option to equip the Ruby and Topaz to their liking. Prices start at $519 for the Ruby and $559 for the Topaz.
