European PC buyers increasingly prefer models on AMD processors. Last year, the proportion of systems based on AMD processors rose from 7% to 12%. It is partly caused by the lack of Intel processors due to industrial problems that this company cannot overcome in any way.
It is interesting that the PC market is not shrinking. On the contrary, sales of desktop computers and laptops in Europe have risen from 5,077 million units to 5,242 million units in the last year (although the source does not indicate the period, according to the figures it is a question of indicators for a quarter). Sales of systems based on AMD processors rose from 0.355 million units to 0.629 million units during this period, almost 1.8 times.
AMD’s share of European PC sales is growing.
The largest growth was recorded in the consumer segment, where the share of computers based on AMD processors rose from 11% to 18% over the course of the year. AMD’s share in the corporate segment increased from 3% to 8%.
According to the general director of the analytical company Canalys, AMD’s success is due not only to the lack of Intel processors but also to the fact that its processors outperform Intel processors in terms of performance and energy efficiency.
