Despite the fact that nowadays more and more people are inclined to semiconductor technology. There is a race among some manufacturers that continues to add space and features to traditional hard disks. It does not apply to their performance and profitability, but most of all the race is on capacity.
Seagate 16 TB should be on the market within 18 months
Companies’ plans are really ambitious. The current top models of Seagate HDDs have a maximum capacity of 10 TB, with prices starting from approximately $400. As reported by Stephen Luczo, CEO of the company, they say that in the near future, sales will be started for disk drives with a capacity of 12 TB of data. This is currently under their tests and gives very positive results. Everything indicates that in the future, we will be able to see hard drives with a capacity of 14 TB and 16 TB. Maybe this will occur in late this year or the next year.
Seagate Barracuda Pro 10 TB – hard drive filled with helium
We do not have any information on the specifications of such drives having 16 TB of data. But we can guess that Seagate will use more plates in relation to existing media. Perhaps they are also filled with helium. But there is no denying that you will find these types of drives mainly used in more professional environments, such as NAS configuration and monitoring systems. Drive from Seagate with a capacity of 16 TB will be in the market within 18 months, and 14 TB media probably will debut a little earlier.
