“I saw what you were doing in front of the computer. A new way to extort money

Cybercriminals are not vacuuming, and they are always trying different ways of getting personal data or just money out of users. Another way of doing this is telling Internet users that they have fallen victim to malware and extorting money in exchange for alleged silence.

“I saw what you were doing in front of the computer. A new way to extort money

According to the Danger service, more and more bizarre emails have recently appeared, in which someone informs that he or she has hacked our computer, obtained data that compromises us and then demands some money for not making this data available to a broad public. This sounds quite dangerous, but… it is pure fraud.

Emails sent by criminals look like a swindler telling us that he caught us watching adult videos. He installed a virus, a keylogger, registered us in front of a computer while watching porn, and then managed to retrieve our data. The fraudster then requests, for example, 330 dollars, which must be sent to the correct address of the bitcoin wallet. Everything looks quite severe, and it’s all so horrible that a horse with a row of people who never in their life watched movies for adults on their computer…

That is what fraudsters are hoping for. They know they will visit the adult site almost once in a while, so they are using the universal access to pornography to tell people that they have caught them up in the act and are now demanding money. This is, of course, a gross scam and a simple attempt to extort money.

Interestingly, however, people are catching up with it. The editorial team of the Danger discovered that some of the addresses of bitcoin’s portfolios have funds. However, we continue to stress that this is merely blackmail and deception, not a real threat.
