We continue with the news related to the privacy of our data, on this issue we’ re talking about a news story that would make more than one person’s nerves stand on end. Apparently, as some Samsung smartphone users claim, their phones would have been sending personal photos to random contacts without any user intervention, highlighting the potential of the problem.
Gizmodo echoes, many Samsung smartphone owners are now experiencing this problem. In fact, the company’s official forums are already picking up numerous complaints about this new security issue. The exact reason for this is not known at this time. Even so, we do know that the problem would not be limited to a particular device, and among the lists of affected terminals are high-end models such as the Samsung Galaxy S9.
According to the information provided by the affected users, the problem could be caused by the official Samsung message application, which is used by default on the company’s devices. In some cases, the application erroneously sent random images from the device’s gallery via SMS, while in other cases it even sent a user’s entire gallery in the middle of the night, when the phone was not in use.
But undoubtedly, the worst thing about the security flaw is that it often leaves no trace on the user’s device, so we may not know that our photos have been sent to random contacts if they don’t tell us about it. As we have said, the origin of the problem is not known at present, although the possibility is being considered that it is related to a recent update of the settings of several network operators. As always, we will be alert to any new developments.
