Samsung today officially announced its latest Exynos processor. If Samsung continues with its usual trend of using two different processors for its star smartphones. Also, many markets around the world will receive their Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + with this processor.
Samsung introduces the new processor Exynos 9810 of Samsung Galaxy S9: More powerful and smarter
The Exynos 9810, part of Samsung’s Exynos 9 processor series. Also, it has a base on Samsung’s second-generation 10 nm FinFET manufacturing process. The Exynos 9810 comes with custom CPU cores. That is a faster gigabit LTE modem. And provides an advanced image processing and machine learning capabilities.
The Exynos 9810 is an eight-core processor with four high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores. The four high-performance cores are custom third-generation cores that can run at up to 2.9 GHz. That achieves twice the performance with a single core and a 40 percent increase in multi-core performance compared to the Exynos 8895.
The new Exynos processor also includes deep learning based on neural networks to improve user experience and security. According to Samsung, the processor can accurately recognize people or elements in the photos for fast image search or categorization.
You can also scan a 3D user’s face for hybrid facial identification through depth detection. Facial identification combines both software and hardware to offer more realistic facial filters and improve security by unlocking a device with the face.
The part of “unlocking a device with a face” in the press release suggests that Samsung’s next flagship will come with a face-unlock feature to compete with Apple’s Face ID. To protect all of these critical biometric data such as facial information, iris, and fingerprints. Also, the Exynos 9810 comes with a separate security processing unit – a similar approach to Apple’s A-series processors.
Accessories
The Exynos 9810 supports up to four image sensors, including a dual camera at the rear, a camera at the front and an iris sensor. According to the announcement, the dual ISP provides enhanced stability to UHD resolution in videos and videos.
The Exynos 9810 includes the industry’s first Cat. 18 LTE modem that supports up to 6 times the aggregation of carriers (CA) compared to the 5CA of the predecessor. The integrated LTE modem can also achieve speeds up to 1.2 Gbps downlink and 200 Mbps uplink. Samsung believes that these rates will facilitate the transmission of 4K or 360-degree video format.
The Exynos 9810 also improves the photographic capacity. The processor comes with a dedicated image processing unit and an enhanced multiformat codec (MFC). That should result in better stabilization of images and video, and noise reduction and motion blur for better low-light photos. The updated MFC allows recording and playback of video at a resolution of 4k at 120 fps.
Announcement
Samsung says that the Exynos 9 Series 9810 is currently in mass production. And that will be shown at CES 2018 in Las Vegas from January 9 to 12, 2018.
