Samsung has launched its second generation of Quad-Cell SSDs (QLC) for consumers. The Samsung 870 QVO offers ” the ultimate blend of speed, storage capacity and reliability for both general and professional PC users,” the best news is that the range offers capacities up to 8TB.
Samsung 870 QVO SSD launched with variants up to 8 TB
The new Samsung 870 QVO SATA SSD is able to double the maximum capacity of the range using the latest 4-bit V-NAND MLC (QLC) flash chips from Samsung. In addition, Samsung claims that these devices are faster and more reliable than those of the previous generation.
The 870 QVO’s performance enhancement consists of a DRAM cache, a large variable SLC buffer, the latest Samsung controller and its Intelligent TurboWrite technology. The key performance metrics stated for the new product line are that it delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 560MB/s and 530MB/s respectively, and up to 13% more random writes than the previous 860 QVOs.
Samsung says its latest 870 QVOs are now available, starting at $129.99 for the 1 TB model, $249 for the 2 TB model, $499 for the 4 TB model and $899 for the 8 TB model. The full specifications of the range are as follows:
