Samsung has presented its new SSD discs with V-NAND technology. The Samsung 860 PRO and Samsung 860 EVO arrive to replace the successful 850 PRO and 850 EVO. Both models combine 64-layer V-NAND technology with 512 GB and 256 GB arrays, 4 GB LPDDR4 mobile DRAM memory and a new JMX controller. All this to achieve read speeds of up to 560 MB/s and write up to 530 MB/s. The Samsung 860 PRO will be available with capacities from 250 GB to 4 TB, with a price starting from 160 euros. On the other hand, the Samsung 860 EVO will be available from 256 GB to 4 TB. Its price starts at 120 euros.

Better performance
The files we handle today are getting heavier. Especially when we talk about video and audio since the 4K resolution. To get these data moving quickly, the new Samsung 860 EVO and Samsung 860 PRO support read speeds of up to 560 MB/s and write speeds of up to 530 MB/s. Also, they offer five years of limited warranty or up to 4,800 Terabytes written for the 860 PRO model and up to 2,400 TBW for the 860 EVO model.
Also, the new models have the JMX controller, which enables faster communication with the host system. This new controller is capable of managing the storage of a workstation. On the other hand, it improves compatibility with the Linux operating system.
More capacity
Along with high speed, new models grow in size. The Samsung 860 PRO is available with capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB. It has a 2.5-inch format and SATA 6 Gbps interface, which makes it compatible with all types of computers, workstations, and NAS.
For its part, the Samsung 860 EVO comes with capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB. That is available in both 2.5-inch formats and mSATA and M.2 formats. The 860 EVO offers sustained performance that is up to six times greater than that of its predecessor. That is due to the incorporation of an improved Intelligent TurboWrite technology. That achieves read and write speeds of up to 550 MB / s and 520 MB/s, respectively.
Both the Samsung 860 EVO and the Samsung 860 PRO will hit the market this month. Its price will start from 160 euros for the PRO model and 120 euros for the EVO model. For now, we will have to wait to see if they fulfill what they promise.
