Nvidia introduced its new line of 20XX graphics cards with Turing architecture in the form of RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080. It means that most of the attention was focused on the RTX part of the presentation. Clearly, it is one of the most important aspects that both Nvidia and the technology and gaming community have discussed the most.
And now it seems that the whole gameplay has calmed down with a new speculation spreading that the RTX has some limitations. For example, it can only work well in 1080p resolutions. Although Nvidia has not yet specifically commented on its performance at higher resolutions, we now know from a report that both Nvidia 2080 and 2080TI will be able to process 60 frames per second at 4K resolution.
Whereas the 4K resolution in games is exceptionally beautiful but also very resource hungry. In order to have a decent 4K experience, you don’t need a superficial PC anymore with new GPU technologies. So it’s very impressive for Nvidia to claim that their new GPUs are capable of running this resolution at a solid frame rate.
RTX is clearly at the core of the new 20XX cards, as solid performance in 4K resolution is much more attractive to gamers at the moment. If these new GPUs can really run at 60 FPS at such high resolutions then this will be a decisive factor in RTX distribution.
DLSS is one of the new features of the Turing architecture designed to use large information processed by an artificial intelligence and collected in a huge database to create a kind of supersampling that is much more effective than current scaling techniques.
