Resident Evil 8, expected to be released in 2021 for both current and next-generation consoles, will be more terrifying and unusual than previous games. All indications are that with this new episode, Capcom will take a more psychological, horror-oriented approach to eat the minds of those who play them. Instead of relying on shocking horrors in the style of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the studio wants to push the boundaries even further than it did with the crazy RE7 family Baker.
Instead of once again featuring zombies and mutant monsters alongside a deep and confusing story, Resident Evil 8 will focus on fantastic horror with other types of creatures. Sources tell VideoGameChronicle that Resident Evil 8’s monsters will be from popular folklore, including werewolves and other traditional horrors.
Players take control of Ethan Winters in a first-person experience that focuses on survival in psychologically stressful conditions. Ghosts are also mentioned in previous reports. The game could end up more like the sacrifice of Senua than RE7.
All of this is reported by DuskGolem, a Twitter user with obvious inside knowledge of Capcom’s plans, who has in the past already revealed a lot of accurate information about the Resident Evil saga, making him a reliable source.
