Chromebooks are low-cost devices, and therefore, with good specifications, it seems that in the future there may be Chromebooks with support for 4K screens.
References to hardware appear under the code name “Atlas” of a 4K Chromebook
In February, a commit in Chromium Gerrit pointed out that the “secret” 4K Chromebooks were on their way, and now a Reddit user has found references on the boards.yaml file available in Google’s Chromium Git, according to XDA-Developers.
The file refers to a hardware board with support for screens with 4K resolution, specifically, 3840x2160p resolution. This board is currently known under the codename Atlas, and at the moment is no longer known about it, so all that can be said at this time are merely speculations, although with what has been described above, it makes sense that Chromebooks with a 4K screen can be closer than they look.
As a result, Chrome OS users may be able to use this operating system on a screen with the above resolution. In this respect, Chrome OS continues to gain capabilities available on Android, so it’s not unreasonable that it can also support higher resolutions.
However, we may be able to learn more about this year’s Google I/O, so there is less waiting time to learn more about what Google will offer to developers and users alike.
