QNAP Introduces Two New NAS TS-x31P2 and TS-431X2 Input Range

QNAP today introduced two new NAS models, these are the new TS-x31P2 and TS-431X2, which introduce new line-of-entry or entry-level NASs as opposed to other more powerful solutions from the company. Within this new range, we find the new TS-x31P2, which will be sold in two different models of 2 and four bays as the most economical option, while the TS-431X2 offers only a four-bay model but introduces a 10 Gigabit to get the full potential of this new NAS.

Any of the three models that go on sale incorporate the AnnapurnaLabs Alpine AL-314 quad-core processor and 1.7Ghz, a processor based on ARM architecture also cheaper cutting versus Intel solutions, but already by itself provides good and sufficient performance for these units.

NAS TS-x31P2 Specifications and Prices

All bays included are hot-swapped and can accommodate both 2.5 “and 3.5” units, on the back side we will have three USB 3.0 ports. And two RJ45 Gigabit (10 Gigabit in the case of the TS-431X2. Although not the presence of double port for this model is confirmed). Finally, the only difference between these units resides in the equipped RAM. Since the units based on TS-x31P2 offer 1 or 4GB of DDR3 RAM. While the TS-431X2 can accommodate 4 or 8GB of DDR3 RAM depending on the chosen configuration.

QNAP has not commented on prices for these new units, but it will not take long to see them in stores.

The innovation for the newly launched models is that the dual-core, 1.7GHz Annapurna Alpine AL-212 SoC has been replaced by the AL-314. Which has an unchanged clock, but the number of cores has been doubled. The maximum supported memory capacity is 8 GB. Which can be used for each model. However, at the factory, only the TS-431X2 can be purchased with maximum capacity. And the other has a SO-DIMM socket.
