The new Philips 221B8 Full HD monitor includes some of the most highly rated leading features, which are the key to a pleasant and productive workspace. Starting with the unique SmartImage technology, for example, which continuously analyzes the content played on the screen to optimize its performance.
Depending on the task at hand, the user can choose between different modes – Office, Photo, Movie, Game, and more – and leave it to Smart Image to adjust contrast, color saturation and sharpness to provide the best image of the application in use. Also, an economy mode is available, which is specially designed to reduce energy consumption while ensuring the correct exposure for everyday office applications.
The 21.5″ TFT-LCD display also includes Flicker-Free and W-LED backlighting to regulate brightness and reduce eye fatigue, while for more natural and realistic images SmartContrast technology automatically adjusts colors and controls backlight intensity, improving contrast for more vibrant, darker tones in videos, games, photos, and pictures. And for long-term eye care, Philips LowBlue mode also reduces the short-wave blue light rays produced by LED displays, preventing potential eye damage over time.
The ergonomically focused 221B8 would not be complete without crucial features such as the EasyRead paper reading experience and the flexibility provided by the SmartErgoBase, a unique monitor base that makes it easy to adjust the height, tilt, turn and rotation of the screen to suit any individual preference and needs.

Also announced today, the Philips 243S5 is a durable, must-have monitor that delivers superior image quality thanks to the vivid colors of its mercury-free TFT-LCD display and SmartContrast technology. Engineered with everything you need to be productive right from the start, the 243S5 has a compact, space-saving design, which in turn provides an extensive 23.6″ Full HD viewing experience; its VESA mounting option offers an excellent solution in any environment where desktop space is at a premium.
Connected to the world around us
Multiple connectivity options are a must in any digital workspace. For this reason, each of these two new monitors is equipped with a full range of digital and analog options such as DVI-D, HDMI, and VGA ports, the 221B8 also includes DisplayPort 1.2 technology, enabling the daisy chain connection of multiple devices. An accessible headphone jack and two built-in high-quality 2W stereo speakers, ideal for multimedia or communication applications.

On the other hand, the new Philips 243S5 highlights some of the features of the new S5 line, where ergonomic options with different connection ports and swivel/tilt/height settings are also available. Both monitor lines share a sustainable design to reduce environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle, and help companies reduce operational costs through compliance with current energy standards and energy-saving features.
The Philips 243S5 will be available this month, while the Philips 221B8 will be available from June, both with a suggested retail price of €139 (incl. VAT).
