We’ve all run out of batteries at some point at the worst possible time, and mobile phone manufacturers are aware of this problem. Blackview is working on solving this problem, and the adoption of 5V/5A fast charging is a step forward in that direction.
Blackview features fast charging at 5V/5A: less heat and more safety
We don’t like to wait for our smartphone to charge but, at the same time, we want larger batteries to increase its battery life. Therefore, fast charging is important today, but not all systems are the same.
Blackview opts for a quick charge at 5 volts and 5 amps, because it considers it more efficient than other systems that go up to 9 or 12 volts. With 5V/5A you get a fast and safe charge because the temperature does not rise dangerously.
The new Blackview P10000 Pro is the first smartphone to use this technology, called Pump Express 4.0. By mounting a huge 11,000 mAh battery, fast charging is a good idea.
Blackview wanted to demonstrate in a video how the P10000 Pro’s 5V/5A fast charging works. In 5 minutes it is set to 4% (equivalent to 440 mAh), and then it manages to play a 30-minute video with 50% brightness.
In order to enable fast loading of the Blackview P10000 Pro, some specific features have been added:
- USB-C cable that supports 5 amps.
- Compatibility with the USB PD 3.0 standard.
- Battery overcharge protection.
Blackview ensures that the cost of the charger and electronics to work at 5V/5A is four times higher than usual, but that this ensures security.
And because it’s compatible with USB PD 3.0 chargers, you can use fast charging even when you don’t have the original Blackview P10000 Pro charger handy.
Fast charging is an issue that each manufacturer addresses in a very different way. The Blackview P10000 Pro, despite its 11,000 mAh, only needs 2 hours and 25 minutes plugged into a socket to get 100%.
Other brands such as Apple, however, give it a lower priority, and the iPhone X takes about 3 hours to charge its 2,716 mAh, although a more powerful charger is available.
There are many different solutions on the market, and Blackview believes that choosing 5V/5A on its new P10000 Pro is the most balanced way to save time without the excess heat in the battery being a safety issue.
