This has been announced on the official Opera website, where they explain that the free Opera VPN service will be discontinued for both Android and iOS from April 30th this year. However, the site offers other alternatives for those who used to use the mobile application:

All Opera Gold users have the option to redeem a free 1-year subscription to SurfEasy Ultra VPN. This is a free update for Opera Gold users, as SurfEasy Ultra offers unlimited use on up to five devices, access to 28 regions and a strict non-registration policy.

SurfEasy is also available on more platforms, currently supporting Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Amazon devices. Users will also enjoy world-class customer support. Opera Gold users will be able to migrate to the latest version of the Opera VPN application for iOS.

On the other hand, users who are not part of Opera Gold will have an 80% discount on the annual SurfEasy Total plan.
