Recently, OnePlus announced its next-generation system, OxygenOS 13, in an official OEF event on an overseas forum, a naming that shattered previous expectations of OnePlus users.
The “magic” of Google’s native Android system has always been a feature of Android models and has given rise to MIUI, One UI, Flyme, Origin OS, and many other systems with better experiences.
OnePlus and OPPO announced last year that they will merge many of their services. One of the consequences is that the company’s phones will use Color OS as a customization layer and leave Oxygen OS aside. However, the former company is now announcing that it will make Oxygen OS 13, which is based on Android 13, an official later this year.
OnePlus announces Oxygen OS 13 based on Android 13.
An announcement that confuses many, as it was expected that phones would start using Color OS as a customization layer this year.
OnePlus has announced that Oxygen OS 13 is real and will be released later this year. This new version of the Chinese brand’s customization layer would be based on Android 13. This announcement raises doubts because it implies that last year’s agreement is no longer in force, so they won’t use OPPO’s customization layer on their phones, so they won’t use Color OS as announced.
It is unclear if this agreement with OPPO is still in place or if Oxygen OS 13 will be the last version of the customization layer they will release. But this announcement comes as a surprise, as it was already suspected that the next phones would come with Color OS or that they would receive the update later this year.
ColorOS 12 brings a newly designed Quick Look Card, which allows users to get real-time key information of high-frequency applications at a glance through 44 card services, such as the Boo Suggestion Card that intelligently prompts users for flight information; the Parking Card that automatically records parking locations; and the Device Light Up Card that allows users to see the real-time power of headphones, watches and other devices at a glance.
In any case, OnePlus’ Open Ear Forum will take place on February 28. It is expected that at this digital event the first details about Oxygen OS 13, the new version of the customization layer, will be confirmed. So, we will learn more about the company’s plans or the agreement with OPPO, for example.
