Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X to replace GDDR6 model

Nvidia plans to replace the RTX 3060 Ti model with GDDR6 memory with the new variant that comes with faster memory, which is the GDDR6X type, to offer higher bandwidth.

Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, the variant with GDDR6X is going to replace the GDDR6 model

The information comes from Chinese media, which is reporting that Nvidia is going to replace the RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards with a new memory with higher speed, which would offer 35% higher bandwidth. This increase in bandwidth should offer a handful of extra fps, but it won’t be a noticeable difference either.

Recently, Nvidia released RTX 3060 Ti models with 8GB of memory and another with GDDR6X memory. This makes three different models of the 3060 Ti, which seems too much for one model. That’s why the intention is to replace the model with GDDR6, which is offering a lower memory bandwidth.

Nvidia and partners in this segment are going to gradually replace the GDDR6 version with the new model until they are discontinued. Despite having a higher memory, the price will be the same as the current GDDR6.

The launch of this new model is global and not territory specific, so it won’t take long for only these models to be found in stores.

The launch of the new RTX 3060 Ti models could make the RTX 4060 take a little while to go on sale. The 4060 is expected to be announced, perhaps, at CES 2023 in January.
