According to a recent report from Korea, the green company would prepare the future RTX 30 SUPER graphics cards but would not only use TSMC’s factories but also Samsung’s workforce.
Nvidia RTX 30 SUPER to be manufactured by TSMC and Samsung
Nvidia has already used Samsung’s fabs for its RTX 30 series, though that decision apparently didn’t have the results they initially expected. Samsung used its 8nm process node, but the performance of the wafers would not have been as good. However, it seems that Samsung has received a new order from Nvidia to manufacture RTX 30 SUPER series chips.
According to the information, Nvidia will again cooperate with Samsung in the production of its chips to meet the current high demand.
TSMC can’t keep up with the pace of chip manufacturing and recently removed volume discounts for wafers. Nvidia will try to increase the pace of manufacturing its next GPUs while reducing costs. It’s also possible that Samsung has improved its 8nm process, prompting Nvidia to seek its services again. Plus, there aren’t many ways to make chips as advanced today as Nvidia is doing with the RTX 30 series.
This collaboration would have been signed on December 17 last year for a value of more than $90 million. How many waffles that amount of money equals is a mystery.
It is reported that Samsung will manufacture the chips at its plant in Hwaseong. We expect this to have a positive impact on the launch inventory of the future RTX 30 SUPER.
