Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 (2018) are two more HMD Global smartphones that receive an upgrade to Android 8.1 Oreo. The manufacturer seems to be going like a thunderstorm regarding the speed of delivery of Android updates. That can indeed be said when we see how many telephones with the latest Google system there are at the moment.
Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 (2018) get Android 8.1 Oreo
Nokia 5, which you will find in the offer of shops, and the new Nokia 6 (2018), where you will find a model from 2017 in shops, have caught up with the Android 8.1 Oreo. HMD Global already provides an update on these models via OTA. The phones are the next, after Nokia 8, which received the latest version of Android.
Android 8.1 Oreo, in fact, is on very few phones. Those that are directly supported by Google, such as Pixel, which have recently been available in Polish shops, received the system quickly. However, if we look at smartphones from other manufacturers, it will be tough to find a model that works under the control of this version of the software.
HMD Global distributes Android 8.1 Oreo on Nokia 5 and 6 (2018) via OTA. That means that you do not need to connect your smartphone to your computer for installation. The update includes a March safety update and introduces some new features. You will find a list of changes in one of the screenshots below.
