Netflix introduced its cheap rate with advertising in November. It’s an attempt by the platform to retain users or get those who no longer use the platform to return. According to reports, they could go one step further with their next subscription. It would be a free plan, in exchange for more ads between content.
Free Netflix with ads: a possible new plan for the platform
There would be a greater number of commercials shown, similar to normal TV channels. This would be compensation for not having to pay for a subscription.
New plan
Netflix is currently considering this, but we don’t know yet if it will eventually become a new plan or model. It would move to a subscription that would be completely free, in exchange for a greater number of ads in the subscription. It would be a move to try to retain those users who don’t want to pay or want to pay less, such as those who share accounts.
They have taken inspiration from Hulu and want to surpass that option that attracts advertisers. It is not yet clear if this plan for the streaming platform is for the whole world or if it is limited to some markets, such as the United States.
Back in November, we were fobbed off with a cheap subscription with ads. This plan costs less than other subscriptions, 5.49 euros in the case of Spain, but there are ads. This new plan or idea from Netflix would go one step further. It remains to be seen if they will actually implement it or if it will remain an idea but nothing more. What do you think about this possible free plan with advertising on the platform?
