The CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk (Elon Musk) met with an Assistant Director of NASA to discuss the upcoming test flight of the manned spacecraft, which is crucial for SpaceX to become NASA’s first manned space mission.
NASA spokeswoman Megan Powers wrote in an email that Musk met with NASA deputy director of exploration and human operations Bill Gerstenmaier in Washington. The two discussed the SpaceX demo 1 test flight scheduled for January next year.
SpaceX and Boeing have signed a contract with NASA to send US astronauts to the International Space Station.
NASA’s latest plan is that the first unmanned demonstration flight of SpaceX will take place on 7 January. The first flight of the astronauts will take place in June, but the schedule is often delayed. The SpaceX representative did not reply to the rapporteur’s request for comments.
NASA said last month in an email that the agency will conduct a Cultural Assessment Study with business partners to ensure they meet NASA’s occupational safety requirements, including “building a drug-free environment”.
Earlier, the Washington Post reported that Musk had used marijuana in an interview with a podcast last September, and NASA subsequently ordered a safety review of SpaceX and Boeing.
In September 2014, NASA awarded the two companies a huge $6.8 billion contract to ensure that the United States would continue to send U.S. astronauts to the International Space Station without buying the headquarters of the Russian Soyuz probe.
