MSI released a new GTX 1060 6GB with GDDR5X memory, with a confusing design that reuses the circuit board of the GTX 1080, at least according to the pictures on the official website.
The graphics uses the GP104 core and GDDR5X memory, but still has the same core frequencies as the original GTX 1060 with GP106 and the same RAM frequencies as the normal GDDR5 of the original model.
With an 8-pin and a 6-pin connector, which is obviously unnecessary for a GTX 1060, and two SLI connectors, this graphic card is strange. The first thing that looks different like a bug is when you look at the specifications it indicates that it has these power connections.
Does it really support SLI?
This last picture shows the ZOTAC model of its GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5X, which like the MSI model has the two SLI connectors for reusing another PCB, but has a label indicating that SLI is not supported.
The MSI model may not be supported either, although it’s clearly confusing for users to have the connectors without being able to use them. Obviously, this is not a good decision for one of the brands as it can generate disinformation among users.
