Microsoft acquires 4 new game developers to expand its game development efforts

Microsoft has acquired the developers of Forza Horizon, PlayGround Games, the manufacturer of State of Decay Undead Labs, the creators of Hellblade: Sensa’s Sacrifice, Ninja Theory and the team behind We Happy Few, Compulsion Games.

This effort will allow Microsoft to launch more first-generation story-driven games, allowing each of these developers to focus on creating great games while enabling Microsoft to better sell its Xbox platform to gamers on both PC and Xbox One.

Most of the exclusive Xbox games are now released on the PC as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, although the major drawback of this effort is Microsoft’s Windows Shop, which is a service below the competition compared to competing PC gaming platforms such as Steam.
