MeshTalk, Oppo will turn smartphones into walkie-talks

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has just announced that it will introduce a new form of communication called MeshTalk. It will allow you to speak in a similar style to the old walkie-talkie – no need to have a cellular network to communicate with others.

MeshTalk is used in Oppo smartphones. Thanks to this solution, users can send text messages, recordings or calls without having to use a mobile network. There is only one condition – the persons concerned must be within a range of up to three kilometres.

MeshTalk works in an ad hoc LAN network (i.e. a network where mobile devices can be both customers and access points, there is no external infrastructure) and does not require mobile coverage, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It’s just a walkie-talkie, only in new apparel. Unfortunately, there is not much information about MeshTalk yet, but we will probably soon know the features and details of this solution.

Oppo, as you can see, is becoming increasingly bold in the smartphone market, not only commercially, but also in terms of innovation. The company has already announced the first phone call with a webcam to Selfie under the display and has recently joined the testers of the new Huawei operating system, the HongMeng OS.
