Sixense developed MakeVR for developing professional 3D models for HTC Vive. The models from MakeVR are ready for printing and supports importing 3D models from other programs to embed into game engines.
Owners of Oculus Rift have already made a very good program for modeling three-dimensional objects. For HTC Vive there is still need for improvement and the research work is still in the early phase and there is nothing like it. With MakeVR, HTC is filling this gap and offers an application for the professional of virtual reality for the creation of 3D models.
MakeVR is not just a program for creative enthusiasts but it is also a professional tool. Coupled with the intuitive handling of a VR interface, moving around the model and working with the hands. So making 3D modeling much more simplified than before and thus freely accessible to a larger number of people.
MakeVR Creating Professional 3D Models Import Feature
The professional requirement here is also important to the developers. Which is why the new product have a base on a CAD (Computer Aided Design) engine. This makes it possible to import 3D models in .sab, .sat, and .stl formats. The latter is unable to get modify in this software. You can export the created or modified 3D model in a series of formats (.sab, .stl, .obj), so you can process it in another program or import it into a game engine.
Optimized for 3D printing
MakeVR automatically optimizes the created models for 3D printing. To facilitate printing, developers are partnering with Shape ways received models. The 3D model can also get into the database with only the touch of a button. Thus making it reviewed and getting a perfect release for printing.
This software is from Sixense, the authors of the STEM system. By the end of 2013, more than 2300 fans had successfully supported a kickstarter campaign for motion controllers. But they were not delivered until today. Sixense has been working on MakeVR since 2014. After an aborted kickstarter campaign, the project gets sponsor by HTC as part of Vive Studios .
MakeVR is now available on Viveport and costs 27 euros. In the near future, a professional version of this softwre will be released very soon. Which will provide more precise tools for developing 3D virtual reality models. When it will appear in the market and how much it will cost is still not known. More information about MakeVR is available in the official blog entry . Also whether the software for other platforms appears is also not known.
