Magic Leap creates a portal for AR application developers
The Magic Leap One augmented reality glasses, announced as revolutionary, have not yet been released. However, Magic Leap wants to expand its catalog of applications running on its device before its launch. Also, the company has just opened its platform to external developers. And offers a development kit (SDK) through its creators portal.
Magic Leap One Developer Portal Launched
Magic Leap has just opened its portal for developers wishing to create AR applications on Magic Leap One glasses. You can access it here. A development kit is proposed as well as resources. It is already possible to download a preview of Unreal or Unity engines ready for what Magic Leap calls “Spatial Computing”. Various tutorials are available as well as a community for technical support. Although no copy of Magic Leap One has been sent to developers yet, it will be possible to test its creations via a simulator called “Magic Leap Simulator” which will allow previewing applications without a device.
Magic Leap had started opening its platform to a limited number of developers in 2016. Partnerships for content have also been formed, notably with the NBA and Weta Workshop. Now, all interested developers can start creating applications. Note that Magic Leap will be present at the Game Developers Conference. Additional information may be revealed during this presentation.
