M1 processor, Apple works with 32 cores and a high-performance graphics processor

Apple’s announcement of the SoC M1 processor was probably the most important news of the year. And the giant will not stop there. Other versions are already planned with an increase in the number of cores.

The Apple brand has decided to distance itself from Intel by developing its own processors for laptops and desktops. A first reference appeared with the announcement of the Apple M1. According to new reports, the giant is working on a more powerful version that will take its place in the so-called “high performance” Macs. We’re talking about the most powerful MacBook Pro, and perhaps also iMac Pro and Mac Pro.

This mysterious chip is said to carry no less than 32 physical cores. This would be scheduled for 2022 when the new generation of MacBooks will be launched. Note that these new chips would allow Apple to offer much more compact form factors while providing a growth path for performance.

At the same time, another chip would be in the pipeline. Equipped with 16 “large cores” and 4 “small” cores, it would target desktop iMacs and most of the MacBook Pro line. This chip could make its debut in spring 2021.

At the same time, Apple would intensify its investment in developing a high-end GPU offering. It is aimed at professionals and is likely to arrive in the iMac Pro and Mac Pro workstations. The goal would be to replace the current Radeon Pro solutions, which have now become outdated. This Apple graphics architecture is being developed to support the Metal 3D graphics API. A launch in early 2022 is possible.
