Microsoft and Linux have been getting along quite well for quite some time, proof of which is the fact that the Microsoft application store on Windows 10 offers the possibility of installing Ubuntu and other distributions within Windows 10 itself. For now, it is only possible on X64 systems, but will soon be available for ARM equipment as well.
Linux will be available for users of Windows 10 computers with ARM
In a session at the Windows 10 on the ARM for Developers conference, Microsoft showed Ubuntu running inside Windows on an ARM PC, the application comes from Microsoft Store, so support for ARM processor-based systems is on its way.

This news coincides with the release of an ARM64 SDK, which was never available before, despite the existence of several devices with 64-bit ARM and Windows 10 64-bit processors. Presumably, other Linux distributions that are available in the Store will follow the same path by recompiling their own Windows subsystem for Linux shells on ARM machines.
If this is confirmed, x86 systems will be the only ones that cannot run Linux within Windows. The abandonment of 32 bits is something that is getting closer every day, so it is logical for companies to stop devoting their efforts and resources to something that has the days numbered.
We will be looking forward to the arrival of Linux for Windows computers based on 64-bit processors, something that may be most interesting for users of these computers.
