Lenovo states that Windows 10 on ARM computers will take time for maturity

Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 850 SoC at this year’s Taipei show, reiterating its commitment to continue developing ARM chips that are a solution for Windows 10. A few days ago, the first generation of PCs that are always connected to Snapdragon 835, such as the Lenovo Miix 630 and ASUS Chang 370, was officially launched, but this is just the first step for this type of device.

Windows 10 on ARM computers still need to be improved

The aim of these PCs is to target customers with low-performance requirements, a battery life of over 20 hours and a 4G Gigabit network. Unfortunately, analyses of such equipment are met with much criticism towards performance. The goal of the Snapdragon 850 is to rectify these problems with immediate effect, although it will take users some time to see that adoption of Windows 10 on the ARM platform.

Lenovo, a key partner of Qualcomm, AMD, and Intel, recently expressed its views on Windows 10 for the ARM. Lenovo India President Rahul Agarwal said in an interview that when people buy Windows computers, they instinctively consider the AMD or Intel platforms first. The ARM is comparatively new and will take some time to gain sufficient recognition and trust from users.

He also noted that Always-Connected PCs require customers to purchase a SIM card with primary Internet access and incur additional packet costs. This is not convenient for some users. He also stated that most people use their laptops in offices, homes, and universities, where the use of 4G connectivity is often unavailable due to the availability of Wi-Fi networks.

Since we are on the subject of ARM chips, it is said that Qualcomm will be preparing a Snapdragon 1000, which will not be its official name but will have a 12W TDP, so it will face to face with the `U’ series of Intel processors, which have a 15W TDP. In short, the performance gap between ARM and Intel and AMD chips will narrow, but in the distant future.

If it is recommended to bet on laptops with ARM chips, clearly NOT at this time, we must wait until the next generation of Snapdragon chips.
