The ninth generation of Intel Core processors was first introduced in the desktop area, both in the mainstream platform LGA 1151 and in the high-end LGA 2066, represented by the Core Xs.
It was only a matter of time before this new CPU family became portable both in the form of high-performance H processors and in its U variant for low voltage devices, and although they are not yet official, we can already know some of the models that will be part of this last U family, we must be thankful to Lenovo for filtering out information for us.
The company has released the specifications of its new IdeaPad S530, an ultra-thin laptop that will feature ninth-generation processors and we can see three models here.
The new processors are expected to have higher frequencies than their predecessors and will be accompanied by the same Intel-integrated iGPUs as the eighth-generation models.
At the bottom we have the Intel Core i3-9130U, followed by the Intel Core i5-9250U and finally the most powerful model will use a Core i7-9550-U. There are still no details about the processors, although no changes in the number of cores as compared to previous generations, so the Core i7 and Core i5 should have 4 cores and the Core i3 will have only two cores.
The new i7 and i5 remain quad-core models with enabled multithreading, while the i3 is a dual-core model with multithreading. Probably the difference won’t be significant, especially since they’re still manufactured at 14nm, the iGPU is the same and the cache sizes are kept at the same levels as their predecessors.
We will have to wait until they are officially announced to know all the details, but it seems that it won’t take long before they arrive.
